On-model photos vs background removal: what does a reseller need?
Background removal cleans up the photo around a garment. It works well for eBay, where buyers search by brand and size and a clean, consistent thumbnail helps. Both tools do it.
On-model photos answer the question flat lays can’t: how does it fit? That matters most on Vinted and Depop, where buyers scroll a grid of covers. Both tools can put a garment on a generated model. The difference is focus. In Photoroom it’s one tool among many, with model, pose and background choices. In Vintefy it’s the main job: upload one phone photo of the garment, choose Clone mode for a model or Studio mode for a clean background, and download the result.
How much do Vintefy and Photoroom cost?
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Vintefy Starter | €19/month | 60 photos (€0.32 per photo) |
| Vintefy Seller | €49/month | 260 photos (€0.19 per photo) |
| Vintefy Pro | €99/month | 600 photos (€0.17 per photo) |
| Photoroom Pro | $12.99/month or $89.99/year | 8,000 AI credits, 1,000 exports, up to 1,600 AI Fashion Model generations (1K) |

| Photoroom Ultra | $99/month or $990/year | 75,000 AI credits, 10,000 exports, 4K |
On paper, Photoroom gives you far more images for less money. If price per image is what matters most, it wins. Vintefy’s case is focus: a workflow built for one kind of seller and one kind of photo.
What does the workflow look like?
Vintefy
- Photograph the garment with your phone: flat, on a hanger or on a mannequin.
- Upload it and pick Clone mode (on a model) or Studio mode (clean background).
- Download the result after about 30 seconds and add it as your cover photo.
Photoroom
- Upload a product photo; Photoroom suggests a shot of the item worn or a simple flat lay.
- Choose a model, a pose, a background and an output format.
- Generate, then refine or batch-export with the rest of the editor.
Who should pick Vintefy, and who should pick Photoroom?

You edit in batches
Batch editing, templates and exports suit sellers who process a whole haul at once.
You run a brand or a Shopify shop
Brand Kit, saved custom models and, on Max, Shopify integration.
Pick Vintefy if…
You sell secondhand clothes on marketplaces
Vintefy is built around Vinted, Depop, eBay and Poshmark listings, and nothing else.
You start from a casual phone photo
Upload a photo of the garment flat, on a hanger or on a mannequin and choose a model or a studio background.
You want one job done with no editor to learn
Two modes, about 30 seconds per photo, in the browser.
You want the listing text too
The free description generator writes titles and descriptions in 14 languages.
Whichever you choose, the AI photo should be your cover, not your only photo. Add real shots of the label, fabric and any flaws. See what Vinted allows and our wider roundup of AI photo apps.

Vintefy vs Photoroom: answered
Is Vintefy or Photoroom better for clothing resellers?
Photoroom is better if you want an all-round editor, list non-clothing items, or want the most images for the money. Vintefy is better if you mainly sell secondhand clothes on Vinted, Depop or eBay and want an on-model or studio photo from a casual phone photo without learning an editor.
Can Photoroom put clothes on a model?
Yes. Photoroom’s AI Fashion Models tool is included in its Pro, Max and Ultra plans. Pro includes up to 1,600 generations a month at 1K resolution; 2K needs Max. Photoroom suggests starting from a photo of someone wearing the item or a simple flat lay.
How much does Photoroom cost compared with Vintefy?
Photoroom Pro costs $12.99 a month or $89.99 a year, and Max costs $34.99 a month (prices checked October 2026). Vintefy costs €19 a month for 60 photos, €49 for 260 or €99 for 600, with credits renewing monthly and cancel anytime.
Is Photoroom cheaper than Vintefy?
Per image, yes. Photoroom Pro allows far more AI fashion model generations a month for less money. Vintefy costs more per photo because it is a specialised tool for marketplace sellers rather than a general editor.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some sellers use a general editor for background removal on non-clothing items and Vintefy for on-model clothing covers.
Do AI model photos break Vinted or Depop rules?
Vinted has said AI use is fine as long as the item is represented accurately. Whichever tool you use, keep colour and details true and add real photos of labels and any flaws.
