The short answer

Item Verification is an optional authenticity check that buyers can add to eligible designer items on Vinted. It costs the buyer £10 in the UK or €10 in France; the seller pays nothing. Eligible items are on Vinted’s brand list, in clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery or shoes, priced from £85 (UK) or €100 (France). If a buyer adds it, you ship to Vinted’s hub instead of the buyer, experts check the item, and it goes on to the buyer with a hangtag and a digital report.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

    The buyer adds Item Verification

On an eligible listing (marked with a diamond badge), the buyer chooses the service at checkout and pays the fee. Sellers cannot add or remove it.

  2. 2

You ship to the verification hub

You receive a prepaid Vinted shipping label and have 5 working days to send the item to Vinted’s verification hub, not to the buyer.

  3. 3

    Experts check authenticity

Usually within 1–2 working days of arrival, using objective criteria, brand information and any documents you provided.

  4. 4

The item goes on to the buyer

If authentic, it is sent within 1–2 working days with a hangtag and a digital report. Delivery usually takes up to 10 working days from when you ship.

  5. 5

    The order completes

For standard sellers, the buyer then has 2 days to report an issue or confirm everything is OK; after that you get paid.

If the item fails the check

Vinted sends the item back to you and you cannot re-upload it. The buyer gets a full refund, including the service fee, the Vinted fee and all shipping, within 1–2 working days of the item being sent back. Vinted’s policy is that repeatedly listing items that are not genuine can lead to a permanent account block, and that counterfeit listings are removed and the account suspended. If that happens, see our guide to appealing a Vinted restriction.

When the seller gets paid

As with any order, you are paid when the order completes: after the buyer confirms everything is OK, or 2 days after delivery if they do nothing. (Pro accounts cannot use Item Verification.) With verification, the parcel travels via the hub, so expect to wait longer than for a direct sale. More in how order completion works and how Vinted payouts work.

How to prepare an eligible listing

  • Photograph proof of authenticity. Vinted’s authenticity policy asks for proof on luxury items and may ask for it on often-counterfeited brands: receipts, certificates, tags, original packaging. Listings without it can be hidden or deleted.
  • Show the details experts check: labels, stamps, serial or date codes, hardware, stitching.
  • Keep the item ready to ship. You have 5 working days to send it to the hub.
  • Mind the threshold. Editing the price can make a listing eligible or ineligible, so if you lower a £90 bag to £80, it drops out of the service in the UK.

Vinted Item Verification: your questions

What is Item Verification on Vinted?

An optional, paid authenticity check for eligible designer items. The buyer adds it at checkout, the seller sends the item to Vinted’s verification hub, experts check it, and if it is authentic it goes on to the buyer with a hangtag and a digital report. It checks authenticity only, not condition.

How much does Vinted Item Verification cost?

£10 per item in the UK and €10 per item in France, paid by the buyer. It covers the check and shipping from the seller to the hub. Sellers pay nothing. The normal Vinted fee still applies to the order.

Which items are eligible for Item Verification?

Items from brands on Vinted’s eligible list, in clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery or shoes, priced at £85 or more in the UK or €100 or more in France. Eligible listings show a diamond badge.

How long does Item Verification take?

The seller has 5 working days to ship to the hub, the check usually takes 1–2 working days, and the item is sent on within 1–2 working days. Vinted says delivery usually takes up to 10 working days from when the seller ships.

What happens if an item fails Item Verification?

Vinted sends it back to the seller, who cannot re-upload it, and the buyer gets a full refund (the service, the Vinted fee and all shipping) within 1–2 working days of the item being sent back. Repeatedly listing items that are not genuine can lead to a permanent block.

Can the seller refuse Item Verification?

No. Eligible listings show the option and sellers cannot remove it. Only the buyer decides whether to add it. It cannot be used on bundles.

Is Item Verification available in every Vinted country?

No. Vinted’s UK help page says it is available for UK trades; the French page lists France and cross-border orders between France and Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy. Check your country’s Help Centre.
