The short answer

In autumn, list coats and jackets, knitwear, hoodies, boots, blazers, trousers and jeans. In listings created with Vintefy, titles mentioning coats or jackets went from 5.8% of July listings to 15.4% in early October; knitwear from 6.3% to 12.0%; blazers from 1.6% to 6.1%. Dresses, shorts and T-shirts fell over the same months. List winter pieces from late August, hold swimwear, shorts and sandals until spring, and have party wear and gifts online by mid-November.

What our data shows, month by month

We looked at every public listing created with Vintefy between 22 March and 12 October 2026 and counted, for each month, how many listing titles mention a garment type. It shows what sellers were putting up for sale, which tracks what they expect to sell. It is not Vinted sales data.

Three things stand out. Outerwear turns first: coats and jackets doubled between July and August, weeks before the weather changed, and hoodies and sweatshirts moved with them. Knitwear climbs more gradually into October, and blazers and boots only pick up in September. And summer items fall away fast: dresses went from 23.8% in July to 12.0%, shorts from 5.1% to 0.9%.

By category, August to October

Since mid-August, listings created with Vintefy are also tagged with a category, which gives a second view. Trousers grew from 4.0% of categorised listings in August to 10.5% in October; knitwear and jeans also grew, while tops and sportswear shrank.

What to list on Vinted now

October and November are the core months for warm clothing. If it keeps someone warm, list it now.

List now

Coats and jackets

Puffers, wool coats, parkas, fleeces and waxed jackets. The biggest seasonal mover in our data. See jackets & coats, The North Face, Patagonia and Carhartt.

List now

Knitwear

Cable knits, cardigans, merino and lambswool jumpers. Fibre content sells them. See knitwear and Ralph Lauren.

List now

Hoodies, sweatshirts and fleece

Everyday layers that buyers want the moment it turns cold. Logo pieces from Nike and adidas are searched by name.

List now

Boots

Chelsea, knee-high and hiking boots. Show heels and soles. See boots.

List now

Blazers, trousers and jeans

Workwear and denim rise after the summer. See suits & blazers, trousers and Levi’s.

From November

Party wear and gifts

Sequins, velvet, going-out dresses, accessories and new-with-tags gifts, ahead of December. See dresses and bags.

Brand matters as much as season. In September and October, Ralph Lauren was the brand most often listed with Vintefy, followed by adidas, Nike, Zara and Levi’s; brand-name outerwear such as The North Face and Patagonia appeared from August. The what sells best on Vinted guide has sale prices and sell times by brand from Vinkit’s data.

What to hold until spring

Swimwear

Vinted’s 2025 trend report found bikinis are about 5.5% cheaper in winter months. Hold them until spring.

Shorts and linen

Shorts fell from 5.1% of our July listings to 0.9% in early October. List them again from April.

Sandals and sunglasses

Store them clean and photographed, and relist in spring when holiday shopping starts.

You can leave summer items listed, but they take up space in your wardrobe and pull your average sell time up. Most sellers do better hiding them for a few months and relisting them as fresh listings in April.

When to list ahead of the season

Buyers shop for the next season before it arrives, and new listings need time to collect favourites. Rules of thumb:

  • Coats and heavy jackets: from late August and through September. In our data, they doubled between July and August.
  • Trainers: by the end of August. Vinted’s 2025 trend report names April and September as the most popular months to buy trainers.
  • Knitwear and boots: from September.
  • Party wear, velvet and sequins: from early November for December events.
  • Gifts (new with tags, accessories, books): by mid-November. Vinted and Retail Economics estimated that UK shoppers would spend over £2 billion on second-hand Christmas gifts in 2024.

The Vinted selling calendar lays this out month by month.

How to price in autumn

Early in the season, demand is building and there are fewer competing listings, so price at the upper end of a realistic range. A few habits help:

  • Leave room for offers. Buyers can offer up to 40% below your price on Vinted, so set a price you are happy to come down from. The guide to handling offers covers counteroffers.
  • Send offers to people who favourite. Vinted notifies you when someone favourites your item and lets you send them an offer. See what favourites mean.
  • Relist every 10 to 14 days if an item hasn’t sold, and change as much as you can: new photos (try the free photo refresher), a new description from the free description generator, a new title and an adjusted price. Posting between 19:00 and 21:00 is our recommendation, not official Vinted data. More in the relisting strategy.
  • Set bundle discounts for knitwear and kids’ winter clothes, which buyers often buy in twos and threes. See how bundles work.

For a starting price, the Vinted price calculator works from retail price and condition, and the pricing strategy guide covers the rest.

Autumn photo tips

Autumn items are bulkier and more expensive, so buyers look harder at the photos.

  • Show outerwear on a body. A coat on a hanger hides its length and shape. Shoot it worn, or use an on-model photo.
  • Add the details buyers ask about: lining, fill label, zips and cuffs for coats; fibre label and any pilling for knits; heels and soles for boots.
  • Use daylight while you have it. Days are shorter from October, so shoot near a window around midday rather than under a ceiling lamp at night.

Selling on Vinted in autumn: your questions

What sells best on Vinted in autumn?

Coats and jackets, knitwear, hoodies and sweatshirts, boots, blazers, trousers and jeans. In listings created with Vintefy, titles mentioning coats or jackets rose from 5.8% of July listings to 15.4% in early October, and knitwear from 6.3% to 12.0%. This is what sellers listed, not Vinted sales data, but it follows the season closely.

When should I start listing coats on Vinted?

From late August and through September, before the first cold weeks. In our data, coat and jacket listings more than doubled between July and September. Listing early means your coat is already ranked and favourited when buyers start searching, rather than competing with everyone who lists on the first cold day.

Should I sell summer clothes in autumn?

Usually not. Shorts, swimwear, sandals and linen sell slowly and cheaply out of season, and Vinted’s own 2025 trend report found bikinis are about 5.5% cheaper in winter. Hide or delete them and relist from April, unless you are clearing stock and happy with a low price.

Do trainers sell well in autumn?

Yes. Vinted’s 2025 trend report, as reported by Stylist, names April and September as the most popular months to buy trainers. September is the back-to-school and back-to-work month, so have trainers listed by the end of August.

How should I price winter coats on Vinted in October?

Start at the upper end of a realistic range early in the season, while demand is building, and leave room for offers: buyers can offer up to 40% below your price. Relist every 10 to 14 days with new photos, a new title and description and an adjusted price if it has not sold. By late January, when coats have been on sale everywhere, price to clear.

Does Black Friday affect Vinted sales?

We have found no published Vinted data on Black Friday. New retail prices drop that week, so second-hand items compete with discounted new stock. Our advice: do not cut prices just because it is Black Friday, but make sure gift-friendly items (new with tags, accessories, party wear) are listed by mid-November.
